The National Carpet Cleaners Association was established in 1968.
It is the only independent UK trade body solely dedicated to the craft of carpet, upholstery, curtain, and other soft furnishing cleaning. As such the Association is now widely recognised, not just by the homemakers but also by government, media, industry and commerce, as being the authoritative source of information and advice on all aspects of the industry.
The Association comprises a steadily increasing number of member companies based throughout England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, as well as a handful of overseas members. In addition to dealing with carpet, curtain, and upholstery cleaning, many members offer additional services such as remedial repairs to carpets, regular maintenance programs, carpet and fabric protection, and flame retardant treatments. Members of the Association's specialist Fire and Flood Division are also trained and qualified to undertake a wide range of restoration tasks after fire and flood.
A non profit making body, the Association is governed by a President and a Board of Directors drawn from, and elected annually, by its members.
In 1982 the Association, recognized as representing a substantial segment of professional cleaners, was invited to become a founder member of the British Cleaning Council, the Organization which coordinates the affairs of virtually every aspect of the UK cleaning industry.
